The Best Connection Celebrates Mental Health Awareness Week
From 12th – 18th May 2025, The Best Connection proudly celebrated and raised awareness for Mental Health Awareness Week, uniting colleagues across the business to shine a spotlight on the importance of community and its vital role in supporting mental wellbeing.
Led nationally by the Mental Health Foundation, this year’s theme of ‘Community’ encouraged us to reflect on how connection, support, and belonging make all the difference to our mental health — and we embraced the theme wholeheartedly across the business.
Why This Week Matters
Mental health affects us all. Our 2024 Equality, Diversity and Inclusion survey revealed that 27% of employees who disclosed a disability, identified it as mental health-related. Mental Health Awareness Week gave us the opportunity to break down stigma, open up important conversations, and continue building an inclusive workplace where everyone feels supported.
How We Celebrated
Throughout the week, we ran a vibrant programme of activity on the Belonging at The Best Connection Viva Engage network, with daily themes to inspire, educate, and connect our colleagues:
- Mood Boosters – Colleagues shared the small things that instantly lift their mood, from favourite playlists and bubble baths to dog walks and colouring books.
- Let’s Get Real – We tackled common myths about mental health and shared honest thoughts on what we wish more people understood.
- Helping Others – Everyone reflected on the little things we do for others — from sending kind messages to sharing a cuppa.
- Whole Self Spotlight & Mental Health Cafe – We celebrated the passions, hobbies and interests that make us who we are outside of work and hosted a Mental Health Awareness Week themed Mental Health Cafe for employees to join.
- Kindness Shoutouts & Wear It Green Day – The week wrapped up with colleagues recognising those who made a positive difference and proudly wearing green in support of mental health awareness.
Resources & Support
Throughout the week, we also signposted colleagues to a wide range of resources on the Belonging at TBC Viva Engage network, including mental health templates, articles, and links to national support services such as:
- Mind: 0300 102 1234
- Samaritans: 116 123
- CALM: 0800 58 58 58
- The Mix (Under 25s): Text THEMIX to 85258
What This Week Means
More than just a campaign, Mental Health Awareness Week at The Best Connection is about fostering a culture of care and connection. It reminds us that mental health is something we all have — and something we all need to talk about.
We celebrate our community, support one another, and take real steps toward normalising the conversation around mental health. From heartfelt shoutouts to powerful stories, Mental Health Awareness Week was a reflection of who we are.
Hear from Katie Yorke, HR Manager:
“Mental Health Awareness Week was a true reflection of the community we’ve built here. Seeing so many people open up, get involved and support one another was incredibly powerful. It reminds us that mental health isn’t just that once-a-year conversation — it’s something we need to keep talking about. We’re so proud to have such a supportive and caring community at The Best Connection.”
