Celebrating Success: Proud Stories from Our Drivers at The Best Connection 

At The Best Connection, we take immense pride in our drivers and their unwavering commitment—not only in their roles but also in the communities they serve. Their courage and compassion shine brightly in challenging moments, and we are honoured to share their remarkable stories. 

Recently, Dave Godfrey from our Eastbourne office demonstrated exceptional bravery by stepping in to extinguish a fire at a petrol station. Captured on video, Dave’s calm and swift actions helped contain a dangerous situation, showcasing how our drivers consistently go above and beyond to ensure the safety of others.

Dave is not alone in his heroism. John Rastrick, a driver from The Best Connection Chesterfield, was honoured for his remarkable bravery during a life-threatening incident on the M1 motorway in January 2019. While returning to his Chesterfield assignment, John came across a burning car with an unresponsive driver, Pari Mistry, trapped inside. Without a moment’s hesitation, he risked his own safety to rescue her from the vehicle. His swift and courageous actions saved her life, earning him heartfelt gratitude from Ms. Mistry and public acclaim at a special ceremony. In recognition of his extraordinary bravery, John was also nominated for and won the award for Outstanding Bravery at the 2023 Pride of Britain Awards. 

On 30th October 2024, another remarkable act of heroism unfolded in Sunderland, where two of our delivery drivers from The Best Connection came to the aid of an elderly gentleman who had fallen and sustained a severe head injury. One of the drivers, an ex-military medic, swiftly tended to the man’s wounds and stopped the bleeding using the first aid kit from their van. His partner provided vital support as they worked together to care for the gentleman until the ambulance arrived. Upon the paramedics’ arrival, the knowledgeable driver expertly relayed crucial information about the incident. 

One witness to the scene remarked, “The Best Connection and their client should be incredibly proud of these two men, whose quick thinking and professionalism may have saved a life that day. On behalf of the local residents, please extend our heartfelt gratitude to them.” 

Reflecting on our drivers’ bravery, Neil Yorke, Director of The Best Connection, shared, “We are delighted and proud to see our drivers recognised for their courageous acts. There’s no doubt they both put themselves at risk to save others. These acts of heroism truly reflect the spirit of The Best Connection and the exceptional calibre of our drivers.”
