Making Local Impact
Volunteering: How We Make Local Impact
At The Best Connection, community is a part of who we are.
For more than 35 years, our branches across the UK have supported local charities, community projects and environmental initiatives. From fundraising and hands-on volunteering to long-term partnerships, our people are committed to making a positive difference in the places where we live and work.
Because being people-first means showing up – not just in our roles, but for our communities too.
Our Approach: ESG and CSR in Action
Our volunteering and community activity sits within our wider Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) framework.
At The Best Connection, responsible business is embedded in how we operate, grow and support others. Our ESG strategy sets the direction for long-term commitments, while our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity brings those commitments to life through meaningful, local action.
Our approach is guided by four core pillars:
- Environment
- People
- Community & Social Impact
- Governance & Integrity
Community impact is not static. We continually review our approach, listen to our people and partners and look for new ways to strengthen the positive difference we make.

Volunteering in Action Across Our Network
Across our branch network, our people turn strategy into action every day.
Whether supporting food banks, taking part in environmental clean-ups or helping local charities, our people give their time and energy to causes that matter to them and their communities.
They are supported through two paid volunteering days per year, helping ensure our impact is rooted in meaningful engagement — not just fundraising
Recent examples include:
- Supporting Foodcycle
Our Training Team volunteered with FoodCycle, helping to prepare and serve meals for people in the local community. Read more about that day here.
- Helping you people prepare for work
A member of our Onsite team visited a local school to support students with mock interviews, helping them build confidence, develop interview skills and gain valuable insight into the world of work. As a recruitment business, we understand how transformative the right opportunity can be. Read more about that day here.

Our Partnership with Groundwork
As we build on our long-standing commitment to local impact, our national partnership with Groundwork marks an exciting next step.
Groundwork is a UK charity dedicated to creating stronger, greener communities. Through this partnership, we are expanding our community and environmental impact in a more structured, coordinated and measurable way across our branch network.
This next phase of our community journey will bring:
- Structured volunteering opportunities across our branch network
- Environmental and sustainability-focused initiatives
- Greater collaboration between branches and local community groups
- Measurable impact aligned to our ESG framework
By combining local branch energy with national coordination, we can create even greater impact in the communities we serve.
Join Us in Making a Difference
Making local impact is built into how we operate, how we support our people and how we show up for our communities.
As our Groundwork partnership develops and our branch network continues to support local initiatives, we look forward to sharing even more stories of positive change.
