Supporting Communities: Our Training Team Volunteer with FoodCycle

At The Best Connection, we’re passionate about supporting the communities we work in across the UK and proud to give back wherever we can. That’s why every employee has two paid volunteering days each year – part of our wider CSR and ESG commitments to making a difference across the UK.

Recently, two members of our Training Team, Kanez Khan and Emily Parkes, put their volunteering days into action by spending time with FoodCycle in Dudley, an inspiring charity with a mission to make food poverty, loneliness, and food waste a thing of the past.

About FoodCycle

FoodCycle brings communities together across the UK through weekly community dining projects. By taking surplus food that would otherwise go to waste, they create delicious, nutritious meals for anyone who needs them. More than just a meal, these events provide a safe and welcoming space for connection, conversation, and support

Their vision is clear:
– No one should go hungry.
– No one should feel lonely.
– No food should go to waste.

Kanez And Emily

Making a Difference

Kanez and Emily each spent a day volunteering with FoodCycle, helping prepare and serve meals, chatting with guests, and being part of the warm, inclusive atmosphere that FoodCycle is known for.

It was an eye-opening and rewarding experience, highlighting the importance of community-led initiatives and showing how small contributions of time can make a real impact on people’s lives.

Kanez and Emily said:

“What a fantastic day with FoodCycle! We really enjoyed serving meals, chatting with the local community, and offering support where we could. It’s such a brilliant initiative, and we’re proud to have made a positive difference.”

Volunteering at The Best Connection

At The Best Connection, we’re proud to offer paid volunteering days to all employees, as part of our employee benefits. We believe giving our colleagues the time and opportunity to support causes they care about not only strengthens local communities but also reflects who we are as a business – people who care, who give back, and who want to make a difference.

We’re already seeing more colleagues taking up their volunteering days to support charities and causes close to their hearts, and we look forward to sharing more stories like this one in the future.
