Job Title: Warehouse Manager
Reports To: Commercial Director / Managing Director
Location: Cannock
Job Purpose:
To oversee and manage all warehouse operations, ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, and despatch of goods. The Warehouse Manager will be responsible for maintaining high levels of inventory accuracy, achieving performance targets through effective KPI management, ensuring Health & Safety compliance, and managing budgets to deliver an efficient, cost-effective warehouse operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all daily warehouse operations, including goods-in, storage, order picking, and despatch.
- Lead, develop, and motivate warehouse staff, fostering a positive, high-performing team culture.
- Set, monitor, and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure efficiency, accuracy, productivity, and service levels.
- Oversee and optimise the use of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Inventory Management Systems (IMS).
- Implement and manage a weekly cycle-counting programme to ensure stock accuracy and minimise discrepancies.
- Conduct regular stock reconciliations and investigate any variances promptly.
- Manage warehouse budgets, including labour, equipment, and operational costs, ensuring cost control and financial accountability.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise warehouse layout, processes, and workflow.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental regulations, maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
- Liaise closely with procurement, production, transport, and customer service teams to ensure smooth operational coordination.
- Produce regular reports on warehouse performance, KPI achievement, stock accuracy, and operational efficiency for senior management.
Key Skills and Competencies:
- Proven leadership and team management skills, ideally within a fast-paced warehouse or logistics environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Inventory Management Systems (IMS).
- Excellent ability to set, monitor, and analyse KPIs to drive performance improvement.
- Experience in implementing and maintaining cycle-counting programmes and stock-control procedures.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Sound budgeting and cost-control experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively across all levels of the business.
- Comprehensive understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation and best practice in warehouse operations.
- Must have an FLT Reach Licence refreshed or taken in the last 3 years and be competent to drive Reach truck when required.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily warehouse-based with some office duties.
- Flexibility required for extended hours or weekend working during busy periods.
HOURS OF WORK: Monday - Friday 08:00 - 17:00
PAY RATE: £35,000 - £40,000 DEPENDANT ON EXPERIENCE
