The Best Connection are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Mechanic / Commercial Vehicle Technician to join a busy workshop team in Barnsley.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established utilities contractor operating a fleet of over 200 vehicles, including vans and HGVs. The business has invested heavily in its workshop operations, with spare vehicles available to reduce pressure and allow technicians to focus on completing high-quality repairs and servicing.

The Role

• Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs on a mixed fleet of commercial vehicles and vans
• Routine servicing, maintenance and inspections
• Identifying mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic equipment
• Ensuring vehicles are maintained to a high safety standard
• Working closely with the workshop team to keep the fleet operational

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience diagnosing and repairing commercial vehicles or vans
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• HGV experience would be advantageous but is not essential

Desirable Skills

Candidates with any of the following may be considered for enhanced salary packages:

• HGV mechanic experience
• Class 2 Licence
• Auto-electrical experience
• Advanced diagnostic skills
• Manufacturer-trained technician qualifications
