Job Purpose

To manufacture high-quality clay roof tiles by moulding and shaping clay products in line with production schedules, quality standards, and health and safety procedures. The role involves operating moulding equipment, handling clay materials, monitoring product quality, and ensuring finished roof tiles meet company specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and process clay materials ready for moulding.
• Operate manual, semi-automated, or automated moulding machinery to form roof tiles.
• Load clay into moulds and ensure tiles are formed to the required shape and dimensions.
• Inspect moulded tiles for defects, inconsistencies, or damage during production.
• Remove excess clay and maintain consistent product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
• Transfer moulded tiles safely to drying racks, pallets, or conveyor systems.
• Carry out routine cleaning and basic maintenance of moulding equipment and work areas.
• Monitor production output and report machinery faults or quality issues to supervisors.
• Follow production schedules to achieve daily manufacturing targets.
• Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental procedures.
• Assist with general factory duties as required.

• Experience working in a manufacturing, production, or factory environment.
• Good attention to detail and quality standards.
• Ability to follow instructions and production processes.
• Good levels of physical fitness and stamina.

• Awareness of health and safety requirements within a manufacturing setting.

Desirable

• Previous experience within clay, brick, roof tile, ceramic, or building materials manufacturing.
• Experience operating production machinery.
• Forklift licence (where applicable).
• Understanding of quality control procedures.

• Use of PPE including safety boots, gloves, hearing protection, eye protection, and dust masks where required.
• May involve shift work, overtime, or weekend working to meet production demands.

Typical Duties During a Shift

• Prepare clay for production.
• Set up moulds and machinery.
• Mould roof tiles to specification.
• Perform quality checks on finished products.
• Stack and transport tiles for drying and firing.
• Clean equipment and production areas.
• Complete production records and communicate any issues to supervisors
