The Best Connection - Recruiting on Behalf of Our Client in Paddock Wood

The Best Connection is currently recruiting for a Warehouse Trainer to join our client's busy e-commerce distribution operation based in Paddock Wood. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with warehouse, picking and packing experience who enjoys supporting colleagues, maintaining high standards and helping an operation run smoothly.

This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, offering the chance to secure a permanent position following a successful temporary period, with access to additional benefits once permanent.

The Role

Working at the heart of the Goods Out department, you will support the picking and packing teams by helping resolve operational issues, training new starters and ensuring processes are followed correctly. You will play an important role in maintaining order accuracy, product quality and efficient warehouse operations.

This is a hands-on support and coaching position, ideal for someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys helping others succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for picker and packer queries, helping resolve issues and minimise delays.
  • Welcome, onboard and train new starters on warehouse systems, picking and packing procedures, and workstation layouts.
  • Coach colleagues to maintain high standards of accuracy, quality and productivity.
  • Ensure correct picking methods, packaging materials and labelling procedures are followed.
  • Check that packing benches are clean, organised, fully stocked and ready for use.
  • Monitor handheld scanners and other equipment, reporting faults when required.
  • Support the monitoring of performance, picking accuracy and packing quality.
  • Help investigate errors, damages, mispicks, mispacks and delays.
  • Communicate operational updates and issues to shift leaders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, consistency and efficiency.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous retail experience.
  • Warehouse, fulfilment or e-commerce picking and packing experience is preferred.
  • Experience supporting, training or coaching colleagues.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Confidence using handheld scanners, warehouse management systems (WMS) and basic IT tools.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and the confidence to escalate issues when necessary.
  • Someone who takes pride in doing things properly and enjoys helping colleagues develop.

This is a support and coaching role rather than a direct management position. You will work closely with warehouse leadership and help maintain high standards across the Goods Out operation.

Working Hours

You will work 5 days out of 7 on one of the following shifts:

  • Early Shift: 08:00-18:00.
  • Late Shift: 12:00-22:00, with an additional £1 per hour uplift for shifts finishing after 19:00.

Shift swaps and requests are available, offering some flexibility around personal commitments.

Pay, Benefits and Perks

  • £14.20 per hour basic pay.
  • 25% pick and pack bonus, paid monthly once you become permanent after 3 months.
  • £100 monthly attendance bonus.
  • Additional £1 per hour late-shift uplift for shifts finishing after 19:00.
  • Hot drinks provided during shifts.
  • Free on-site parking.
  • Social events throughout the year.
  • Access to Mintago retail discounts.

Career Development

Year 1 * Embed structured onboarding and training for all new pickers and packers. * Drive consistent picking and packing standards and improved order accuracy. * Become the trusted first point of contact on the Goods Out floor. Years 2-3 * Lead training and continuous improvement across Goods Out. * Take on wider shift and section responsibilities. * Develop the skills to step into team leadership.
