About the Role

We are seeking a Class 1 HGV Yard Shunter Driver to join our client's established operations team in Nottingham. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled driver looking for stable, long-term employment with immediate start availability.

As a Yard Shunter Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers and vehicles around the company yard, ensuring smooth operations and always maintaining the highest safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

· Safely shunt and manoeuvre trailers around the yard using Class 1 HGV skills

· Conduct thorough pre-shift vehicle and trailer inspections, reporting any defects immediately

· Couple and uncouple trailers in accordance with DVSA standards and company procedures

· Ensure all trailers are parked and positioned safely and correctly

· Maintain accurate handover procedures when transferring trailers to other personnel

· Adhere strictly to all health and safety guidelines and company yard protocols

· Keep detailed records of all shunting activities and vehicle movements

· Maintain the cab and surrounding work areas to a high standard of cleanliness

· Communicate effectively with yard management and other team members

· Comply with all relevant UK driving laws, tachograph regulations, and working time directives

Requirements

· Valid Class 1 HGV Driving Licence with clean driving record

· Professional shunting experience in a yard or depot environment

· Knowledge of vehicle and trailer safety checks and DVSA standards

· Ability to work nights (Friday - Tuesday, 22:00 - 06:45)

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols

· Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

· Reliability and punctuality essential

· Right to work in the UK

Desirable

· Experience in logistics or warehousing environments

· Familiarity with tachograph and vehicle tracking systems

· Previous yard-based or depot shunting experience

· First aid at work certification

Shift Details

· Days: Friday - Tuesday

· Hours: 22:00 - 06:45 (approximately 8.75 hours per shift)

· Pattern: 5 nights per week (approximately 43.75 hours per week)

Pay

· £19.07 per hour

We are seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious driver with a proven track record in yard shunting operations. You must be comfortable working night shifts and have the physical capability to perform the duties required. Above all, we need someone who prioritises safety, takes pride in their work, and can work independently whilst maintaining effective communication with the yard team.
