Manufacturing Operative

We're recruiting Manufacturing Operatives to join a well-established engineering manufacturer. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a background in engineering, manufacturing, machining, metalwork, fabrication, or industrial production who are looking for a long-term career with full training, career progression, and regular pay increases as they develop new skills.

This role is based within a busy engineering environment, producing precision-engineered components. We are particularly interested in applicants who have previous experience working in an engineering or manufacturing setting.

Working Hours

Training Period (First 6-8 Weeks):

  • Monday to Thursday: 7:00am - 4:00pm
  • Friday: 7:00am - 1:00pm

After Training:

  • Rotating 12-hour day shifts: 6:00am - 6:00pm
  • Working 3 or 4 days per week (Monday to Friday only)

Pay

  • £13.30 per hour during initial training
  • £14.36 per hour after successfully completing the first level of training (typically within 6-12 months)
  • Further opportunities to train on additional machinery and processes, with the potential for further pay increases

Duties Include

  • Operating a range of engineering grinding machinery
  • Working with CNC crush grinders and Gockel grinding machines
  • Loading and unloading materials
  • Inspecting finished components and carrying out quality checks
  • Following engineering drawings and production procedures where required
  • Maintaining high health and safety standards
  • Supporting general manufacturing operations
  • Manual handling and heavy lifting as part of the role

Some employees may also receive training in cylindrical grinding, which is a more physically demanding role involving lifting and slinging operations. Full training will be provided.

About You

  • Previous experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience operating machinery, working with metal components, machining, fabrication, assembly, or production within an engineering business would be highly advantageous.
  • Willing to learn new skills and train on specialist machinery.
  • Comfortable with manual handling and occasional heavy lifting.
  • Reliable, hardworking, and able to work as part of a team.
  • A forklift licence would be an advantage but is not essential.
