Our client in South Birmingham are recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Technician.  Working Continental shifts ** on a rota basis this role pays £23.00 per hour plus overtime.  The vacancy is an ongoing role which may lead to permanent work following a successful trial period. 

Duties involve working as part of the maintenace team, responding to short notice maintenance work, as well as preventative work.  Working independantly, good problem solving skills are required.  Following processes.  Duties include maintenance of machinery and mechanical equipment, complete of service requests on machinery, completing special projects, and maintaining inventory controls.

Must have experience, and must have a minimum of ONC or HNC or NVQ Level 3 in Maintenance Engineering. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities are as follows:

· Undertake all work activity taking due care and attention to company policies and procedure for Quality, Safety and Environment.
· Have full knowledge and adhere to plant emergency procedures.
· Responsible for the completion of all maintenance service requests as assigned by the Maintenance Planner.
· Maintain inventory controls for cost effective operations.
· Perform special projects as directed by the Maintenance manager and/or Planner.
· Assist in monitoring all work being performed by outside contractors.
· Working on a continental shift pattern , responsible for maintenance activities as scheduled.
· Actively participate in the implementation of sustainable improvement processes, such as 5S, Kaizen, Daily Management Control, Standard Work and Problem Solving.

Relevant Knowledge, Skills & Abilities needed:

· Ability to demonstrate that they have the necessary underpinning technical knowledge, relevant practical experience and appropriate aptitude to carry out job role
· Have served a recognised apprenticeship and have gained ONC/HNC/NVQ level 3 qualification in a maintenance discipline.
· High personal standards in safety, trade skills, quality, schedule, housekeeping, maintenance of tools & equipment
· Positive attitude, committed to meeting business needs
· Flexible and willing to perform full range of tasks
· As part of the maintenance team is willing and able to respond at short notice to maintenance work
· Drives to complete tasks
· Is self-sufficient and able to work individually or with minimum support from others
· Practical problem solving skills
· At all times adopt a safe behaviour by exercising due regard for the health and safety of yourself, colleagues, clients and contractors, in line with the company HS&E policies and procedures in particular COSHH and DSEAR.

Physical requirements:

Must be able to withstand the physical pressures of standing, walking, sitting, as well as being near an industrial environment.
Must be able to gather organize, and analyze data, draw conclusions, and handle stress.
Must wear safety PPE as required.
Must have ability to work the shift/number of hours in which duties need to be accomplished.

Hours of Work:

Continental shifts 0600-1800 and 1800-0600 (2 days on/2 days off/2 days on/4 days off and 18 days off every 7 weeks)

Rate of pay 

Salary - £47,840 per annum equivalent to £23p/h (SWH 40)

Overtime is available
