Maintenance Electrician - Stockport

Our client based in Stockport are seeking a skilled and reliable Mechanical Fitter to join our Production Engineering team. Reporting directly to the Automation Manager, the Mechanical Fitter will play a key role in the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of equipment and facilities. You will ensure all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and on time, and contribute to improving the manufacturing facility’s overall efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Installation: Oversee the installation of machine tools, automation systems, and manufacturing processes.
• Commissioning: Ensure all new equipment is commissioned to the highest standards.
• Maintenance: Maintain both new and existing equipment, following a defined schedule to ensure smooth operations.
• Health & Safety: Strictly adhere to health and safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
• 5S and Preventative Maintenance: Set and maintain high standards of 5S and preventive maintenance practices.
• Machine Downtime: Assist in minimizing machine downtime to improve productivity.
• Quality Standards: Ensure all work meets the quality procedure requirements.
• Self-Management: Work independently while gaining a solid understanding of company and manufacturing processes.
• Technical Competence: Work with drawings and technical specifications, with minimal supervision.
• Adaptability: Be flexible in supporting different manufacturing areas as required to meet business growth.

Core Competency Requirements:

• Qualified in Mechanical Engineering (C&G Pt2, NVQ3, ONC, or equivalent)
• Strong Customer Focus
• High standards of Integrity & Ethics
• Results-driven, with strong initiative and problem-solving skills
• Functional Excellence in all aspects of mechanical fitting and maintenance

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• 3+ years of experience in a Mechanical Fitting or Maintenance role
• Proven ability to work to a high standard of mechanical engineering within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Qualified Electrician is a plus but not essential
