Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (5 days out of 7 on a rota basis)

Shift Availability: Candidates must be fully flexible and available to work across both shift windows: 07:00-15:00 and 13:00-21:00.

Position: Temporary with potential permanent opportunities available.

Key Responsibilities of Hospital Catering Assistant / Ward Host:

  • Delivering high-quality food and beverage service directly to patients' rooms and wards.
  • Taking patient orders while taking careful note of specific dietary requirements, allergens, and personal preferences.
  • Preparing breakfast trays, drinks trolleys, and light snacks.
  • Maintaining immaculate hygiene standards across ward kitchens, preparation areas, and service trolleys.
  • Monitoring temperatures for food and refrigeration units in line with strict health & safety standards.
  • Liaising closely with nursing staff and catering teams to ensure smooth service and exceptional patient care.

Requirements

  • Shift Flexibility: Must be fully available and flexible to work across both shift windows (07:00-15:00 and 13:00-21:00), working 5 days out of 7 on a rotational rota.
  • Customer Service: Strong background in hospitality, catering, or customer-facing environments.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills and a warm, empathetic manner.
  • Hygiene: Knowledge or certification in Food Safety / Hygiene (Level 2 desirable).
  • DBS Check: DBS check will be required (assistance provided).
