Horticultural Plant Nursery Workers – Sittingbourne, Kent

The Best Connection is currently recruiting for Horticultural Plant Nursery Workers to join one of our clients based in Sittingbourne, Kent.

This role offers a variety of positions across different parts of the nursery, making it suitable for a wide range of candidates.

Important Information:

Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including hot greenhouse environments during peak summer months.

• Pay Rate: £11.44 per hour / £14.78 for Umbrella Payroll Workers
• Start Date: Mid-March, running until late August (with potential for ongoing work for the right candidates)
• Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 AM – 16:30 PM

Available Roles:
Order Picker

• Picking plant orders for dispatch
• Loading trailers
• Learning about different plant species
• Cleaning pots and preparing orders
• Manual lifting involved (some plants weigh over 25kg)
• Deadheading and tidying plants for dispatch
• This role can be physically demanding

Bedding Down

• Working outdoors, setting flower beds
• Manual removal of larger plants/shrubs
• Physical work required
• Previous experience driving a small tractor is advantageous

Potting Line

• Working alongside potting machines
• Potting small plants, weeding, and planting
• Quality control, grading, deadheading, and general plant maintenance
• Watering and caring for plants
• A lighter role suitable for a wider range of candidates

Ideal Candidate:

• Adaptable and able to handle various tasks
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Interested in horticulture
• Previous tractor driving experience is a plus
