The Best Connection is an employment business recruiting on behalf of our client.

Our client is the leading Kitchen Furniture manufacturer based in Howden, East Yorkshire, and have given us the opportunity to recruit for a CE night driver to undergo assessment and induction.

The work will be curtain side trailer trunk work to distribute flat packed, palleted kitchen furniture component products to their regional distribution hubs.  There may also be backloads to return with. Start times may vary from 15.00 to 21.00 or so. High levels of skill and professionalism are required in this role particularly in securing the load on the trailer with straps, securing the trailer coupling to the unit and adhering strictly to the tachograph and WTD rules.

PAY RATES :

• Night work Monday to Friday is paid at £ 18.67 per hour.
• Night weekend work is paid at £ 23.33 per hour.
• Night drivers are paid a shift allowance of £ 14.66 per night.
• All breaks are paid and you are guaranteed a minimum 8 hours paid per shift.
• 33 days annual holiday accrual (This is NOT rolled up in the hourly rate).

An induction is required prior to starting work. The induction requires the driver to attend a full night shift usually starting between 14.00 to 16.00, starting with some visual material related to driving skill & hazard awareness, health and safety and tachograph and highway code knowledge followed by a typical night driver’s work of trunking products to the client’s outlet depots. This will be paid for hours done but guaranteed minimum 8 hour payment is in place. Ongoing, full time work is available following successful completion of the assessment and induction process.

Applicants must be well experienced and competent drivers in the use of articulated class 1 vehicles and curtain sider trailer equipment and must have held their CE entitlement for at least 1 year with active driving throughout that period. Very good strapping skills are required for this role.

Our client operates a zero tolerance KPI on tachograph and WTD infringements and also uses Microlise for driver & vehicle management which candidates are asked to take on board as part of their routine driver supervision.

No more than 6 minor points will be accepted and no DR, DG or DD endorsements will be allowed.
