Grounds Maintenance Operative

Pay Rate: £16.00 per hour

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our client's team based in Coventry. This role will involve working across a range of residential estates, commercial business parks and other outdoor sites throughout Coventry, Warwickshire and the surrounding areas.

This is a hands-on, physically active role suited to an experienced grounds maintenance professional who takes pride in maintaining outdoor spaces to a high standard.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS - PLEASE READ

To be considered for this role, you must have all of the following:

• Minimum of 2 years' previous experience within grounds maintenance

• Valid PA1 qualification - ESSENTIAL

• Valid PA6 qualification - ESSENTIAL

• Full UK driving licence - ESSENTIAL

• Previous experience operating a range of grounds maintenance machinery and equipment

Applicants who do not hold valid PA1 and PA6 qualifications will not be considered for this position.

The Role

As a Grounds Maintenance Operative, you will be responsible for maintaining a variety of outdoor areas and ensuring they remain safe, tidy and well presented. You will work across different sites and may be required to travel between locations throughout Coventry and Warwickshire.

Duties will include a range of general grounds maintenance, landscaping and site upkeep tasks. You will be expected to work independently when required, while also supporting and working alongside other members of the grounds maintenance team.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out general grounds maintenance across residential and commercial sites

• Grass cutting using pedestrian and ride-on mowers

• Strimming, edging and maintaining grassed areas

• Hedge cutting, trimming and general pruning

• Carry out general landscaping and outdoor maintenance duties

• Weed control and the safe application of relevant treatments using PA1 and PA6 qualifications

• Operate and maintain grounds maintenance machinery, powered equipment and tools safely

• Use equipment including mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters, trailers and other powered machinery

• Maintain outdoor areas to a consistently high standard

• Ensure all equipment is used correctly and safely

• Carry out general site tidying and upkeep

• Identify and report any maintenance issues, hazards or damaged equipment

• Follow all company health and safety procedures and safe working practices

• Work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team

• Travel between different client sites across Coventry, Warwickshire and the surrounding areas

The Successful Candidate

The successful candidate will have a strong background in grounds maintenance and be confident carrying out a variety of outdoor maintenance duties.

You must be comfortable working outdoors throughout the year and in varying weather conditions. The role requires someone who is reliable, hardworking and organised, with the ability to manage their workload and maintain high standards across multiple sites.

You will also need to have good communication skills and be confident representing the business when working at client locations.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday, 07:00 - 16:00

Occasional flexibility may be required depending on business requirements. This may include working evenings, weekends, nights and bank holidays when necessary.

Pay Rate: £16.00 per hour
