We are looking for reliable and hardworking Foundry Operatives to join our Client's manufacturing team. Working as part of a skilled production environment, you will be responsible for supporting the manufacture of high-quality castings while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and housekeeping. This will be on a three shift pattern, 06:00-14:00, 14:00-22:00 and 22:00-06:00 Monday to Friday.

Rates:

  • £15.79 per hour, up to £27.08 with OT

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pouring molten metal into spinning dies in accordance with established procedures.
  • Monitor mould and molten steel temperatures as directed by the Chargehand.
  • Complete the manufacture of castings and safely remove finished castings from dies using hand tools and appropriate manual handling techniques.
  • Prepare refractory materials for use in the manufacturing process.
  • Set up moulds, cups and ladles as instructed by the Chargehand prior to tube manufacture.
  • Brush out and spray production moulds to maintain quality and production standards.
  • Carry out grinding of moulds and tubes as required.
  • Stamp tubes accurately to ensure full product traceability.
  • Take test samples as directed by the Chargehand.
  • Safely lift and sling moulds, tubes and containers using overhead cranes.
  • Maintain high standards of 5S housekeeping and complete Operator PPM activities.
  • Work safely at all times and comply fully with the company's health, safety, environmental and quality standards and procedures.

Skills & Experience:

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or factory environment.
  • The ability to follow detailed instructions, processes and procedures accurately.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong understanding of health & safety, environmental and quality requirements.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Pendant crane, lifting and slinging experience would be advantageous.
  • Previous foundry experience would be advantageous.
