We are looking for a Night Duty Manager to join our client in Ashford!

19.00-07.00 on a 4-on-4-off rolling shift pattern with a 1 hour break

Working within a newly established site at London Heathrow to deliver a first-class service to our customers. Working Strictly to procedures and industry regulations. An in-depth knowledge of freight forwarding is required for the successful management of the Warehouse. Based in LHR, our warehouse has recently been approved to handle fresh products as well as our General Cargo & Screening operation. The Fresh Operation will be handled on a nightshift, consisting of this role and three warehouse Operatives and will involve working in a cold chain environment, (approx. temperature +2 Deg. C), Uniforms and appropriate PPE will be provided. Our warehouse is a CAA regulated site; therefore a strict background check and full 5-year checkable history is a must for this role. To ensure that all training required to carry out duties is completed on time, to ensure that all freight being handled is treated with the care and attention it demands. This role will oversee the running of the operation in totality, including the supervision of the Warehouse team, actively working to ensure that the freight is handled quickly and compliantly, ensuring that all customs formalities are completed on time and correctly. Liaising with the Fresh Operations team to ensure that all airline equipment is booked and received and checked for damage. The role also includes the creation and finalizing of the export documentation. Liaising with Airlines and hauliers to ensure shipments meet the required cut off times and dealing with any issues that may arise and affect the running of the warehouse or impacting customer shipments. 

Main duties: To include, but not limited to:

• To manage a team of Warehouse Operatives including all HR formalities.

• To work to guidelines / internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and to ensure these are being met by the Warehouse team

• Upholding company’s Health & Safety standards and policies at all times

• Accurate Inbound & outbound handling of shipments in a timely manner

• Customs formality completion as required (discharge of T1 etc)

• Data entry into the systems in an accurate and timely manner

• Screening via metal detection, Xray, FREDDS and ETD machine etc.

• Building of ULD units, checking & labelling of cargo in line with supporting documentation

• Preparing cargo for dispatch, including the handling of temperature sensitive shipments.

• Overseeing of Warehouse and administration duties as required

• Ownership of the shift, including liaising with transport companies and airlines and agencies when required.

• Handling of temperature-controlled shipments, as well as general cargo and other specialized services (e.g Dangerous Goods etc)

 

Skills and Experience (e.g. proficient in Microsoft Office, 1-2 years relevant experience etc):

• Ability to run a successful night shift operation

• Experience of managing and motivating a team to high standards

• Customs knowledge and experience is desirable

• Ability to carry out screening duties where needed.

• Experience of working in a cold chain environment is beneficial

• Fork Lift Experience is advantageous
