The Best Connection are currently recruiting experienced Class 1 (HGV1) Drivers for our client based in Gateshead. This is a great opportunity for professional drivers looking for day shift work with consistent hours, a great team, and no weekend commitments. This role is due to start w/c 20/04 and offers a temp-to-perm opportunity with a full-time position expected in the coming months.

The Role:

• Performing multi-drop collections and deliveries across the region (typically 10-15 stops per day)
• Using a handheld scanner and DPD app for accurate tracking and paperwork completion (smartphone required)
• Locating, scanning, and palletising deliveries within the depot
• Ensuring all goods are safely loaded, secured, and delivered on time
• Carrying out vehicle checks and maintaining high safety standards
• Communicating effectively with the transport team
• Driving a Class 1 vehicle, with occasional requirements to operate 7.5T or 18T vehicles depending on business needs
• Following well-structured routes, with around 80% of stops being regular, time-sensitive deliveries

The Candidate:

• Must hold a valid Class 1 (Category C+E) licence
• Valid CPC and Digital Tachograph Card required
• Previous Class 1 driving experience preferred
• Proactive and able to work independently within a busy depot environment
• Flexible to meet operational needs and vehicle requirements
• Reliable, professional, and safety-conscious
• Good communication and customer service skills

Hours of Work:

• Monday to Friday
• Start time: 09:00 - 17:30 (finish times may vary depending on workload)
• Day shift only
• Ongoing work available with consistent weekly hours

Pay:

• £15.28 per hour
• Rising to £16.36 per hour after 12 weeks
