The Best Connection Mansfield are currently seeking Grounds Maintenance Operatives to join the local council in Mansfield, starting ASAP!

This is an excellent opportunity to work outdoors as part of a dedicated team responsible for maintaining the general horticultural standards of public parks, playing fields, housing estates, cemeteries, and other green spaces across the district.

Experience in horticulture or grounds maintenance is beneficial but not essential - full training will be provided.

A full UK driving licence is essential for this role.

Key Duties Include:

• Using a wide range of tools and equipment including lawnmowers, strimmers, rotavators, hedge cutters, leaf blowers, and other light machinery
• Carrying out horticultural tasks such as grass cutting, hedge trimming, leaf clearance, planting, weeding, and litter picking
• Operating pedestrian and ride‑on mowers
• Completing daily vehicle safety checks (oil, water, fuel, tyres, lights, etc.)
• Driving council vehicles to transport machinery and equipment to site
• Assisting with the erection and dismantling of sports equipment
• Supporting qualified gardeners and following work schedules
• Completing basic paperwork and maintaining accurate records
• Working safely and responsibly in line with council policies and Health & Safety legislation
• Handling equipment and machinery correctly and with care
• Following council values, equality and diversity principles, and data protection policies
• Adopting digital methods of working where required
• Carrying out other reasonable duties associated with grounds maintenance tasks

Working Hours:

Monday - Friday: 7:00am - 4:00pm

(30‑minute unpaid lunch)

Pay Rate:

Pay is dependent on experience and job level:

• G2 (No Experience Required): Starting at National Minimum Wage
• G3 (Experienced Gardener): Up to £13.90 per hour

Requirements:

• Full UK Driving Licence - Essential
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Good reliability and teamwork
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
