Aviation Connection is pleased to be recruiting Transport Support Assistants (Airside Drivers Assistants) on behalf of our client, Newrest, a global leader in in-flight catering and logistics. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast-paced, high-performing team supporting ground operations at London Gatwick Airport.

Role Overview

• Job Title: Transport Support Assistant / Airside Drivers Assistant
• Location: Crawley – Manor Royal (part airside at Gatwick)
• Hourly Rate: £14.27 per hour
• Shifts: 5 days on, 3 days off (rotating)
• Hours: Between 03:00 and 18:00 – day shifts only
• Contract Type: Full-time, ongoing
• Start Date: ASAP

IMPORTANT: A full UK manual driving licence is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct primary and vehicle security checks in line with CAA and DfT regulations
• Support loading of in-flight catering and supplies onto delivery trucks
• Assist with catering and de-catering of aircraft according to flight schedules
• Ensure accurate delivery of catering components based on galley plans
• Load and unload airline trolleys and equipment, maintaining hygiene and safety standards
• Transfer inbound catering from aircraft to washing and prep areas
• Operate equipment and lift/push loads of up to 50lbs
• Ensure adherence to COSHH and HACCP standards at all times
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and operational efficiency
• Assist across departments as required by supervisors or allocators

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Minimum 1 year’s experience in catering, logistics, or aviation (preferred but not required)
• Strong team ethic with a proactive, can-do attitude
• Reliable, committed, and flexible with working hours
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
• Ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure
• Basic literacy and numeracy required
• Strong customer service awareness

Pre-Employment Checks & Requirements

• As part of airside operations and airport compliance, all candidates must be able to:
• Provide a 5-year checkable work and address history (we handle the process)
• Undergo a Criminal Record Check (DBS) – paid for by us
• Complete GSAT (General Security Awareness Training) – paid for by us
• Provide valid, in-date photo ID (passport, UK driving licence, or national ID card)
• Be eligible to work in the UK and attend paid Aviation Security Training
