The Best Connection are recruiting for a Night Shift Manager on behalf of a leading recycling and waste management company in Alfreton. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with supervisory or management experience (waste industry experience is a bonus, but not essential!).

About You

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate, and support site employees to achieve production and performance targets.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with HSEQ standards and procedures.
• Plan, monitor, and manage daily operational activities.
• Oversee weighbridge operations and coordinate transport collections and deliveries.
• Maintain accurate shift records, including attendance, production data, and incident reports.
• Monitor site quality, housekeeping, and environmental compliance.
• Support training, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Promote a positive workplace culture aligned with company values.

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Previous supervisory experience preferably within a waste management, recycling, or industrial environment.
• Strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills.
• IOSH Managing Safely (or willingness to obtain).
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
• Computer literate (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Positive "can-do" attitude, with the ability to problem-solve and make sound decisions.
• Ability to work overtime when required, at the below rates.

Pay Rate:

• £16.27 per hour during the probation period
• Increased rate upon successful completion and start of contract
• Requirement to attend meetings/briefings - which is paid at an overtime rate)
• Overtime rates = Time & half, AND, double time!!

Shift Pattern:

• Sunday to Thursday, 11:00 PM - 6:00 AM
• (Initial training will be provided on the morning shift, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM for the first 2-3 weeks.)
