The Best Connection Bedford are currently recruiting for Kitchen Porters/Assistants to join a friendly team with one of our long standing clients just outside Bedford.
Shift times are Tuesday - Saturday 07.00 - 15.00hrs, pay rate is £11.50.
Responsibilities of the Kitchen Porter/Assistant
- Wash, prepare, plate up and present fresh salads, vegetables and dessert options for service.
- Operate dish washer and hand wash kitchen utensils, equipment and cutlery as required.
- Assist with the preparation of starters, mains and desserts as requested by the Kitchen lead.
- Maintain a safe, tidy and clean workstation and carry out any ad-hoc kitchen cleaning such as sweeping, mopping and sanitising surfaces.
- Carry out kitchen cleaning and health and safety check lists throughout the shift.
- Work as part of the team assisting when required and acting on instructions in a timely and safe manner.
Requirements of the Kitchen Assistant
- Previous commercial kitchen experience
- Enthusiastic and collaborative
- Able to commit to working set shifts
- Ability to remain calm under pressure in a busy kitchen
- Previous experience of carrying out opening and closing procedures
- Able to lift and carry kitchen utensils and equipment in a safe manner
- Interest in gaining experience in commercial catering
