The Best Connection are seeking a reliable and experienced Shunter Driver to join our team. This role involves safely moving HGV Class 1 vehicles on uneven ground within the yard. While an HGV license is not required, applicants must demonstrate confidence in driving HGV 1 lorries. Experience working with steel is essential, and candidates must pass a drug and alcohol test as part of the recruitment process. The shift pattern will include a rotating shift pattern 06:00 - 14:00 and 14:00 - 22:00.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely shunt and manoeuvre HGV Class 1 vehicles within the yard on uneven terrain.
• Handle steel products efficiently and in accordance with company standards.
• Perform daily checks to ensure vehicles and equipment are in good working condition.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations, especially when operating on uneven ground and handling heavy materials.
• Collaborate with the yard team to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Maintain accurate records of shunting activities as required.

Requirements:

• Confidence in driving HGV Class 1 vehicles (HGV license not required).
• Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within the steel industry.
• Strong awareness of health and safety protocols.
• Ability to work on uneven ground and in a fast-paced environment
