The Best Connection are currently recruiting on behalf of our client based in the Halesowen area of Birmingham. We are looking for a CNC Lathe Setter who is multi skilled in all areas of CNC/ Lathes such as Programmer, Operator & Setter. This is a great opportunity to secure a permanent placement!
Main Duties of the CNC Lathe Turner:
- To be able to interpret 2D drawing, specifications & route card instructions.
- Plan & work out: - how to machine the various features of the component - the correct machine to carry out the task. - the most efficient order to carry out machining tasks. - how to locate / clamp the workpiece - the correct tools for each stage of the operation - the correct speeds & feeds
- Programme the machine (preferred languages, Siemens or Fanuc)
- Operate the machine(s)
- Check / inspect component at various stages of sequence & final inspection to ensure quality standards are achieved.
- Deburring components and ensuring they are safe for material movement.
- Use of overhead cranes. (LOLER Training will be provided)
- Ensuring Machines & workplace areas are clean, tidy, and organised.
- General TPM activities, swarf removal, coolant routine oiling and greasing of machine etc.
- Carry out daily bookings against route card jobs and timings.
- Adhere to and encourage health and safety methods and procedures.
- Adhere to company environmental policy & procedures.
Requirements for a CNC lathe turner:
- Must have min 2 years’ experience turning with 3 or more axes.
- Able to read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
- Computer literate (competent in main software packages)
- Conversant with at least one CNC programming language
- Character traits: - Good maths knowledge - Analytical thinking skills - Thorough / logical approach - Good attention to detail - Ability to work on your own & make your decisions.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Machine(s) to be always cutting material unless machine breakdown or component changeover.
- Maintaining document & component/test bar traceability
- Machines & workplace are clean & tidy.
- Components are separated (Awaiting cutting / Awaiting results / Off cuts to be kept) - Machine table & bed to be clear of built-up swarf.
- All tools not being used to be located on shadow boards / cabinet.
- All cleaning tools to be stored on shadow board when not in use.
- Lifting chains / slings / protectors to be stored on racks. - Leaks & spills within area to be addressed, including replacing & disposing of soiled absorbent mats.
- Workbench surfaces to be clear & tidy at the end of the shift.
- Material movement to be conducted in line with laid down safety procedures
- Report to Machine Shop Supervisor with any problems or issues when necessary. For example: any health and safety issues or machine breakdowns must be reported.
- Inspection of work. Any non-conforming processes must be reported to team leader or Manager
